Local Pickleball Club is Sold to Walton-Penner Group
Colorado Springs Pickleball Club is on the Map
The announcement below was released by ESPN late last night.
ESPN – The Walton-Penner investment group (owners of the Broncos) has reached a deal with the Mackey Investment Group, LLC to buy one of Mackey’s premier pickleball teams. The terms of the deal have not been released, but it’s probably not much. Greg Heartt has assumed the position of General Manager and took no time in making changes to the organization.
Heartt indicated the pickleball team needed to make changes to increase their salary cap. “Salaries have gotten out of hand” according to Heartt.
Retired physician Ted Johnson has been sent to the Canon City Rafters for an undisclosed amount. Rafter’s management said they were particularly interested in Johnson because he has had good experience with a paddle. Get it, paddle? Mike Carroll was sent to the Silt Sifters for no compensation. Carroll is not happy about the deal. He believes he worth more than nothing! In addition, Carroll said “I was born and raised on the Western Slope and we always said Silt is the “Arm Pit” of Colorado. They couldn’t even field an eight man football team. Lastly, Michele Strub-Heer was traded to the Fort Morgan Harvesters for two future draft choices. The Harvesters said they needed Strub-Heer’s smashing ability because they only have a bunch of “dinkers” on the club. Stub-Heer has one more year on her contract and she is not sure she wants to take the deal.
Doyle Lyons and Charlie McBride have been put on injured reserve because they are so sickly.
I am sure there will be other changes as we reach free agency. Stay tuned.
